After finding this site there's
no way on Earth that I'll be spending my money with this bunch of tossers.

I would like to add a couple of points that perhaps maybe
food for thought for all the disgruntled. It occurred to me (over
a period of time I may add) that when flicking through the tabloid press
motor supplements It seemed there are only two big sales outfits
operating in the Glasgow region - Reggie Vardie and yours truly, Big
Arnie. Have you looked at their used car prices lately? Yup, pretty
similar - base line entry candidates expecting to part with circa £4K
to £5K, either firm will not deal in cars cheaper than this. Are we
witnessing a monopoly in used car sales?
Whilst browsing one morning in one of Arnies outlets a
year or so ago (outlet not advertising itself as Arnold Clark I may
add!) I was approached by one of Arnies super salesman. "What are
you trying to move out of then?", he said swaggering towards me
like John Wayne with a severe bout of rickets and lighting his fag.
"Nothing", I replied. "What do you see yourself moving
into?", he said. Prolonged silence. "Nothing in mind, I'm just
browsing" I replied. Some idle chit-chat took place and I could
sense that every question he asked was one which tried to put me on the
spot. This went on for about 10mins. At the end of the conversation I
asked about a certain car parked nearby and I walked to it to have a
closer look. I said "I'll just have look inside". I
heard no reply. I turned around and realized he had walked away from me,
just saw his back disappearing round the corner. Imagine that!
That may have been slightly long-winded, but the point
I'm trying to make is this guy was only looking for a sale and nothing
more. Everyone is just a number, a way for Arnie and his team of
sleaze to make big cash. Judging by what I've read on the site,
their promises continue to be idle ones. They're legitimized con-men,
don't let people tell you any different.

I stumbled across this site when searching for Arnold
Clark on Goggle. It came out #1 so it looks like you'll be getting
a lot more hits in the future.
Great site, I'll be avoiding Arnold Clark from now on. No personal experiences with them but I know some mates who have been stiffed by them in the past, particularly when it came to "routine" repairs. .

I recently bought a Mazda 626,S registered for £6000
from Arnold Clark ,Glasgow rd Paisley ,who are the main Mazda dealer for
the area. The car was in totally immaculate conditioned, but after one
hour the air-conditioning and heater unit completely went. I phoned them
and arranged to take the car back in. I had the car 3 days, then it went
back to them. I hasten to add, I washed the car before it went back to
them. I picked the car up 3 days later from them, however there was a
small dent in the boot lid, a scratch through to the primer on the rear
wheel arch and gouges on the back bumper. Also to add to this, the
air-con unit they allegedly fixed, stopped working within the hour. I
noticed they had broke the plastic fascia around the unit and also
screwdriver gouges here they prized the unit out from the dashboard. I
contacted them, yet again to tell them about the damage to the car and
the faulty air-con unit and they agreed to fix these things. However
when I took the car back, I got a head sale!
esman called John Reilly, who inspected the damage on the
car and denied responsibility for it, saying he would fix the dent as a
"goodwill gesture" but not the scratch, as he seemed to think
the car was in "used" condition. I bought this car as it was
totally immaculate i.e. no dents or scratches. Basically, an immaculate
car which I had for 3 days has turned into one with scratches and a dent
due to Arnold Clarks negligence!. What kind of service is this from a
main Mazda dealer? Do people pay thousands of pounds expecting to get
the best service from a main dealer, only to have it thrown back in
their face within 3 days? I'm totally disgusted at the time I spent
looking for the immaculate car I wanted, find one, then be let down by
the main dealers negligence towards my car and denial of
responsibility.......Arnold Clark eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm taking legal action
against this garage and sending the Auto Express's Watchdog column...and
nice eye-opening message. Jap cars might be the bee's knees!
in the reliability stakes in the surveys ......are
their dealers?!!!!.

I agree with all comments on this site.
I purchased a new Saxo VTS from Arnold Clark about 3
months ago and can honestly say NEVER AGAIN.
Right from the word go its been one thing after another.
First of all on arrival to uplift the new car I noticed
that the alloys were all damaged, to which I pointed out and was assured
that it was no problem they would have replacements sent in, and guess
what??? I am still waiting 3 months later.
Then 1 week after I got the car my cd stopped working, so
I handed it in and was told it would be replaced quickly.
Guess what??? Still waiting!!!!!
Then lines started to appear in the body kit at both
sides of the doors, I was told they were all like that it was the panels
from the body kit or some shit like that!!!
Don't think so prior to buying the VTS I owned a VTR same
body kit no lines!!!!
Again talking shit!!!
Now the paint on the bumper is started to flake where it
has not been finished correctly.
The car has also developed a loud clunking from the
gearbox to which they cant identify the cause, as want to strip the
gearbox down to check (DON'T THINK SO!! NOT ON MY BRAND NEW CAR).
There are rattles from the windows, dash, passenger seat
when no weight is in it and seat belt clips they are driving me mental
especially with no stereo yet to drown them out!!!!
I have reported all faults with several members of the
Arnold Clark branch including the General manager (FANNY)
and all they are doing is passing me from pillar to post.
I have told them I no longer wish to keep this car, and
want a refund, to which they are refusing!!!
I am so disappointed in this with the service from Arnold
Clark I will never recommend them to anyone!!!
They are quick enough at giving you the selling patter
and taking your money from you, but when it comes to after sales they
could not give a F*** about you.

I don't know why but every year when I call around
looking for insurance I always call Arnold Clark, and every year without
fail his quote is more expensive than most, so you guessed it, I have
never insured a car with Arnold Clark yet and until he gets his act
together and drops his prices I will continue to get my insurance from
various outlets except his.
ps I never bought a car from him either but from what
I've seen here I will NEVER buy one.
thanks you do a service to the car buying public.

I have a previous message in the Mazda section of this
website following the 626 I bought from Arnold Clark a fortnight ago.
Updating the afore mentioned probs ..it gets worse. Picked my car up
Friday...brought it home ,washed it and found that every flat panel
roof, bonnet etc was covered in small black specs. Would they come off?
naaaaaa they are metal filings sprayed from a grinder, that just happen
to be turning a different colour...brown as they are rusting inside the
lacquer. Call me old fashioned.....but I have confirmation from 2
coachworks that the paint damage is from a grinder spraying hot metal
filings up in the air and just happening to land all over my car. When I
confronted the smarmy little twat that is the head salesman for Mazda
Paisley.....emmmmmm its dirt as he tried to get some off with his
fingernail....Mr. John Reilly is an obnoxious little twat with a serious
attitude towards customers.....probably because his jobs makes up for
how much he is a whimpering piece!
e of shit outside work. This man would end up in a box with
an attitude like he has at work. Maybe if I put him six foot under I would
get away with it with a few well chosen words of denial that seem to be
acceptable if you work for Arnold Clark...wreck a car. deny it ..that's
ok....prove it...that's the law there. I've to go Monday to get a full
refund for a perfect car that turned into a heap within one week of
trusting it in the care of Arnold Clark.......Go buy a £500
runaround....at least you won't worry about that getting wrecked.....buy
from Arnold Clark...and be rest assured, what u actually buy may have came
to them in immaculate condition......let them loose on it and its
wrecked........thank god I'm taking my trade in back....I only worry that
its been in their care a week......I'll keep you posted on whether they've
damaged that to.

Arnold Clarke are shite I bought
a car from them for £3500 cash then I was going to trade it into the same
garage 6months later and all they could offer me for it was £1500. So I
definitely got ripped of by the rouge who was the manager ( Armadale
branch).
