It's a good site, I totally agree what you have mentioned and also the
others who have sent u emails.
years ago I had a car that was regularly serviced by
Arnold Clark (the
Nissan dealer in carmondean, Livingston). the service was
POOR!!!
the car that we had, we didn't use it much, that causes
rust to developed on
the brake discs, and this is normal as the brakes are
being used again, the
rust will come off. and, I couldn't remember when, when I
sent in the car
for oil service, they suggested me to change the whole
set of brake system
(inc brake discs and pads etc), the reason is my car was
failed to pass the
conduction test, which means the current passes through
the brake discs is
not big enough, and they reckon that is caused by the
rust remained on the
discs... of coz, we didn't 'say yes' for this and finally
my family had to
call one of our friends (who is a chartered engineer) to
argue with them,
and finally got everything done without changing the
brake system. 2 years
later, we decided to change the brake system as I felt
that the braking
power is low, so I sent my car to 'Kwik-fit', they have
checked everything
and they have found that the brake discs that I had were
smaller than the
factory spec!!! that is impossible since the brakes
weren't been changed by
that time! I was shocked! and I now think that the Arnold
Clark may have
changed my brake discs to the small ones because we
didn't pay for a new brake
system!!! =(

This
is an excellent site, and I heartily agree with the message that is
portrayed. I have used Arnold Clark. They are truly appalling in every aspect of their business yet excel in stupidity. For example, they threatened me with legal action for a bill I had paid. Fools.

I
was almost caught out by the Grangemouth dealership a few years ago. I saw
what I thought was a really good deal on a nice little car, the salesman
was all set to sell it to me, but I decided to get the AA to check it out
first, where I discovered numerous faults which it was estimated would
cost over £1000 to put right. Not surprisingly AC Grangemouth decided not
to sell me the car because it would cost too much to do the work. A couple of years later, my car was booked in for a service with them, and I was told that the front and rear wiper blades had been replaced. The following day I discovered that I still had my old wiper blade (which even I could see was completely useless), and that weekend a huge crack appeared in my front windscreen, right where the wiper would hit if it was dropped back. Since I hadn't driven the car - other than to get it home from Grangemouth - there was only one explanation for how this had happened. I took the car back to the garage and spoke to the manager, who insisted it was a stone chip, despite the fact that it's highly unlikely that a stone could have hit the windscreen UNDERNEATH the windscreen wiper, and (if any of you have ever had a large stone hit your windscreen you'll know what I mean here) without me even noticing. They accepted no responsibility and I was out of pocket for a new front windscreen. It's not just the sales side of Arnold Clark Grangemouth you need to be wary of.....

We
took a Honda CR-V from the Kirkcaldy Honda branch for a test drive last
month. We pulled out of the forecourt, and the thing ran out of petrol approx. 100 yards up the road. The rep driving was so embarrassed he fucked off & made his 'apprentice ?' go for petrol, & then take us for the test drive. My wife is disabled with MS (so we couldn't walk back to our car), and we had to sit for approx. 30 miens in the thing freezing until the guy arrived with petrol. They also wanted approx. £200 quid for a years warranty!. If they were really confident in their quality of service/products they would provide the warranty free. Don't think we'll ever be back. If we fancy freezing, we'll simply stay at home & turn off the central heating !!!.

I'll
take my hat of to the man on the forecourt who told me about these web
pages. Thank you sir, I know Arnold is your employer and I know your happy I walked off the premises. I am glad I met you today.

We
bought a Renault Laguna Automatic from Arnold Clark, VW, Crow Road in
Glasgow. One week after buying the car the automatic transmission packed
in. Arnold Clark refused to pay for the repair (even though it was still
under warranty!!!) Quote from the senior salesman "What do you expect
if you buy a used car?" I was 7 months pregnant at the time and when
the fault occurred it nearly resulted in me being involved in an accident
(car stopped in the middle of oncoming traffic!) Eventually nearly 2 weeks
later after many phone calls and letters we got our old car returned to
us. (They also refused to pay for a courtesy car, but eventually managed
to get them to pay for it)

I
bought an R registration Peugeot 106 from Arnold Clark 12 months ago and
to date it has been in the Garage 14 times!! and towed home 6, each time
Arnold Clark have not provided a courtesy car!! Just a few of the problems have been: fuel pump, fuel filter, engine management unit, needed a full new exhaust within 2 months, and lots more, in fact 4 of the times when the car was towed home was for the same problem although they could not work out what was wrong with it!! I think your website is great, I discovered it through a search engine when searching for garages as I am now looking for a new car!

we
had numerous motors of a reliable salesman at this branch.......but as
soon as he left, the service went down hill. we had a 4x4 which he had to send back because they couldn't service or repair it, even though they had sold us a service plan earlier on in the year. They are a disgrace to vehicle retail. I had a Punto which had steering problems......they said they couldn't find anything up with it.....after two visits to the branch I decided to take a look under it myself.........the problem was a J-cloth stuck in the steering mechanism........of course its was not their fault and their engineers couldn't have spotted it because they weren't looking for it. Arnold, go throw yourself off the back of your boat!

Don't
be fooled into thinking that Arnold just sells Duff Rovers, I escaped the
clutches of Arnold by the skin of my teeth after spending £160 on an AA
inspection for a nice looking BMW 318SE. The AA man was more than happy to say that he found just 1 thing on the car that was not leaking/worn or just plain crap and that 1 thing was......oh actually there wasn't anything! Arnold I salute your CRAP car sales. OH and you are not just suffering in Glasgow as this all happened in Aberdeen. |
