We Bought a Ford Fiesta Encore in April this year at AC,
Aberdeen. 6 months later, problems galore:
1) Broken cigarette lighter
2) Broken ashtray
3) Passenger window not working
4) Rear window as above
5) MEGA condensation INSIDE car - can't bloody see out
the windows to drive!
6) Leak in passenger front side since we bought the car,
they obviously knew about it, as we met the previous owner of the car at
the shops one day who asked if AC had fixed the leak yet
7) Driver door does not open! Have to crawl in passenger
side to get to seat.
8) Automatic choke does not work
Have 2 year warranty, yet the pompous little weed at AC
says its down to "wear and tear" - in 6 months???????? I don't
think so. We paid cash for the car, so now they don't want to know.
Don't return my phone calls, and when my husband did speak to a sales
guy, he was so rude and nasty it was unbelievable. BIG MISTAKE to go and
see Arnold.

Arnold just does not have a clue
Rover 115 starting problem.
Arnold Clark answer: New glow plugs. Cost £230.00
fitted.
My answer: No thank you. £19.99 from Halfords.
Actual problem: Valve shims costing £45.00 diagnosed
& fitted by Garelochhead Motors.
Toyota Carina: fit CD Auto-changer and controls.
Controller fell off dash after 15 minutes, changer fitted
in the centre of the boot with one screw holding it down, dash left
loose due to missing retaining clips and a switch blank lost. New clock
surround required where super-glue had melted it and the back of the
controller. Milton branch unable to source parts to rectify the dash or
to stick the controller on. Stuck the controller myself using Velcro and
the Phoenix Park Toyota dealer fixed the rest.
Toyota Carina: MOT
Took the car in on the Wednesday for pre-check due to
knocking sound from under car. Told them I thought it was a ball-joint.
They said it was suspension hanger rubbers.
Returned the car on Friday for service and MOT. £350.00
later the car is serviced and it has failed its MOT due to a worn
ball-joint.
Car returned to have new ball-joint fitted. Collected car
and there is a horrible scraping sound coming from under the front end.
Back on the ramp and fix the brake disc cover properly.
Service! They haven't a clue!!.

Wish I had read this
site before I bought a 8 month old car from you know who! Picked the car up from the Dealership at Bass Rock motors in Edinburgh drove home. Every time I put my foot on the brake and released it the car kept slowing I had to pull the pedal up by hand to ensure the car would go! It was picked up by Arnold Clark that evening and I never saw it again for a week whilst the servo was replaced. Picked up the car a week later hoping everything was ok. I decided to clean the car as it had not been cleaned while they had it. Noticed that the roof lining had been taken out as sometime and replaced very baldy, torn and broken ,the inside of the car on the passenger side the plastic under the glove box was badly scored the rear seat belt did not work, neither did the radio. The passenger side wing had been replaced along with all the alloy wheels and interior screw heads were rusted. All this after being told that the car had been checked and had not been involved in any accidents ( Ha! Ha! ) After much more tooing and froing the car was taken back again to claim a refund. During all this Manager Nigel Barr was rude and arrogant He left my family standing in the rain whilst he "inspected" the obvious and made pathetic excuses. We wrote to Arnold Clark personally but all his mail was fielded by Alistair Craig (another incompetent lackie) and at no time were we contacted with an explanation or an apology. Oh, and just for good measure they "lost" the service history of my traded in car so when it was returned to me I no longer had this valuable asset - looks to me like they tried to teach me a lesson for being a troublemaker. So if anyone gets offered a so-called bargain from Arnold Clark be warned - the company is run by ARSEHOLES and staffed by ARSEHOLES. YOU WERE WARNED!!

I rented a mini bus from Arnold Clark Kirkcaldy in august
to take a group of friends to a football match in Berwick
It was a disaster The van was an SP 51 registration but
was a total wreck It could barely touch 50mph the steering was non
existent (you had to move the wheel 90 degrees for slight bends) the
heating did not work seats were ripped a window was cracked and the
engine bay was full of mud and oil the exhaust also had a hole in it
all in all it was the perfect mode of transportation
I don't think so folks
And what did AC say it's needing a service!!!!!
Well personally I would say it needed to be scrapped
next time I rent a minibus I think I'll use Fife Council
at least there busses have to meet a strict safety code unlike Arnolds
who's busses just need to move to be road worthy
Totally dissatisfied and wont be back

After buying a heap of shit from
Arnold Clark, I tried to contact the salesman at the branch. I was told he
no longer worked at the garage. Imagine his surprise then to find himself
selling another heap of shit to some other poor unsuspecting sod the next
day when I went back to the dealership with yet another complaint. They
don't only sell poor quality goods they lie to their customers too. Good
on you for putting up this web site I hope many more people come across it
and take heed. I have heard of many others getting a poor deal from Arnold
Clarks. The list of faults with my own purchase goes on and on from an
engine which blew up six weeks after I bought the car to faulty wipers and
stereo. Listen to those who have had the Arnold experience, and steer well
clear of them.

hi! I bought a 1995 transit van
from the mount Vernon branch in early 1996 the van was only 6 months old @
the time the purchase price was around £10,000 + vat. when I bought
it had a few minor faults which I was told would be rectified before I
collected the van. I was trading in a 1 year old Vauxhall omega which was
made on either a Monday morning or Friday afternoon! ( parks are also
useless as are Vauxhall, the car had 16 major faults in the first 2 weeks
& I drove a hire car for 6 months) Arnold Clark told me that they
would give me £14,000 for it which I agreed to as the best offer I had
was only £8,000 a very good deal I THOUGHT!!! when I picked the van up it
was February & very dark every thing seemed fine, until the next day
as the dashboard facial was hanging off, the service book hadn't been
stamped, the cup holder was broken, there was very little oil in the
engine & the spare tyre was ILLEGAL! I immediately complained to the
salesman who told me return the van & he would get everything sorted
which he did with exception of the dashboard which was on back order, when
the part came in they called to say that it was in & to bring the van
into them that night @ 5pm, so I did & waited until 7.30pm for them to
fix it only to find that they had drilled 2 holes into the original dash
& secured it with self-tapping screws. I was furious but was told that
due to the money I paid for the van there wasn't enough money in the pot
to fix the van properly but I was willing to pay they would fix it
correctly. I went to see the general manager who was called Robert
Macalpine ( now works for reg Vardy @ springburn ) that it was only a van
therefore he wasn't willing to do anything so I complained to the
customers service in Linwood Citroen & got no where then they moved to
parkhall on great western road but never told me, so my complaint got
swept under the carpet until I caught up arn! i.e. himself who sacked
Robert Macalpine & got my van fixed! to this day I would never buy
anything from them & strongly urge other people not to either.

What a truly fantastic sight -
and saved me from any more disasters with Uncle Arnie. We
"inherited" them as our local Renault dealer in Pollokshaws/Haggs
Road after they took over Vardy's. When we took our Scenic back to resolve
a fault still covered by our warranty they didn't want to know, and when
we tried to complain the prat who is the new manager tried to sell us
another car on the spot - I mean pleeeze. So now that I know that it is
not just one bad apple but the whole rotten barrel I'll shop elsewhere.
All power to your elbow!.
