I BOUGHT A BRAN NEW VAUXHALL CORSA FROM
MR. CLARKS COWBOY OUTFIT. HOW DOES HE SLEEP AT NIGHT?, IT ARRIVED ON THE DAY AS PROMISED, HOWEVER AFTER A FEW DAYS OF HAVING THE CAR IT BECAME MORE AND MORE APPARENT IT WAS TWO SHADES OF SILVER. TAKE IT BACK I HEARD YOU SAY, WELL I DID, FOR ALL THE USE THAT WAS. IN THE FIRST INSTANCE THEY CLAIMED THE RIGHT TO REPAIR. I FOOLISHLY OBLIGED, NOT REALLY A PROBLEM BUT GUESS WHAT? DURING THE REPAIR THEY DAMAGED IT SO THEY RE SPRAYED IT AGAIN. THEY THEN RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO VERY ANXIOUS CUSTOMER. YES YOU GUESSED IT THE BLOODY PAINT WAS COVERED IN RUNS AND THEY HAD SPILLED A CAN OF TOXIC THINNERS OVER THE INTERIOR. SO I RETURNED TO HIS RANCH, STILL NO NEW CAR INSTEAD ANOTHER COURTESY CAR AND ANOTHER PAINT JOB "THIS TIME IT WILL BE PERFECT, THAT'S AN ABORTION", THE SALES MANAGER COMMENTED. THE REPAIR TOOK SIX DAYS DURING THAT TIME I DISCOVERED THE COURTESY CAR HAD AN OUT OF DATE TAX DISC. ONCE AGAIN BACK I WENT, ANOTHER COURTESY CAR? NO INSTEAD A CUSTOMERS CAR, DUE FOR DELIVERY THE NEXT DAY. AS THIS WENT ON FOR EVER I'LL CUT IT SHORT ,THE CAR ARRIVES BACK TO ME AND GUESS WHAT IT'S BACK TO THE ORIGINAL STATE. THAT IS THE STATE IT WAS WHEN I GOT IT. TWO BLOODY SHADES OF SILVER. EVENTUALLY THEY BACK DOWN AFTER PHYSICALLY THREATENING THE DIRECTOR AND I GET A NEW CAR, BUT GUESS WHAT IT'S GOT A WHOPPING BIG SCRATCH DOWN THE DOOR AND THE BUMPER HAS A GOUGE FROM IT, IM STILL WAITING FOR A REPAIR OR A LETTER OF APOLOGY OR EVEN A CHANCE LEATHER THE DIRECTOR. IT'S BASTARD HORSES AND SPURS HE SHOULD BE SELLING..

Arnold Clark - Fiat - Alison Street, Glasgow Try and meet the Sales Manager he is. * Out of the Office * He is in a meeting * He has gone home * Its his day off * he is off sick Unfortunately for Arnold Clark it is his Sales Manager who tells you this, however his staff are so forgetful that occasionally they have to talk to him, which if you wait long enough brings him out of the woodwork, and guess what, he was standing beside you all the time. What is the point in winding customers up. It is coming to a point that you will only be able to buy a car from these morons. I looks like it would be easier to go to war with Iraq than to have a conversation with an Arnold Clark Sales Manager i got a Renault megane scenic from his Bearden branch brand new (R)and had |

I BOUGHT A CAR IN NOVEMBER 2001 FROM THE MOTHERWELL
BRANCH. A FIAT PUNTO AUTOMATIC EX MOTOBILITY 17000 MILES. IDEAL FOR MY WIFE WHO WAS ABOUT TO SIT HER TEST. OR SO I THOUGHT. WHAT A BLOODY NIGHTMARE OF AN EXPERIENCE I SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED DOING DAMAGE TO THE SALES GAFFER AN ARROGANT PRICK BY THE NAME OF BRIAN XXXXXXX. THIS GUY IS SURELY GOING TO MEET WITH AN ACCIDENT IF HE DOES NOT CHANGE THE WAY HE TALKS TO PEOPLE. I MADE SOME ENQUIRIES INTO HIS BACKGROUND AND AMONGST OTHER THINGS FOUND OUT THAT HE WAS KEEN ON GRABBING SALES STAFF BY THE COLLAR AND SHOVING THEM AROUND IF THEY DIDN'T GET THE SALE. THE CAR I BOUGHT DISPLAYED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS FROM THE START. FLAT BATTERY CONSTANTLY .THE CAR WOULD CUT OUT AT JUNCTIONS. I HAD TO HAVE IT RECOVERED TWICE FROM MY HOME BACK TO MOTHERWELL. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM TO FULLY INSPECT BY THE SERVICE MANAGER HIMSELF. HE WAS A AUTO ELECTRICIAN BY TRADE HE INFORMED ME. GUESS WHAT? HE FOUND NO FAULT SO RELUCTANTLY I TOOK THE CAR BACK HOME TO EAST! T KILBRIDE A FEW WEEKS LATER WITH THE 28 DAY WARRANTY EXPIRED THE WHOLE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONS AND THE FUCKING THING WONT DRIVE . |

Used to work for Arnold as a Trainee Sales Mngr, one of my duties being a buyer of used car stock. Often went out to look at a range of vehicles with a view to buying - often they were ex-rental and had various problems including (often) accident damage. Would on many occasions not have touched the car with a barge-pole myself, however, I was often instructed to take the vehicles anyway, as the managers would buy any old junk provided it could be cleaned/tarted up to a presentable sale condition. Arnolds say that they fully check all used cars prior to customer collection, including HPi for outstanding finance/write-offs/etc, and they also do a VMI mileage check. I have seen used cars go out to customers with no safety check - having only been given a quick valet, as the workshop was too busy to do the necessary checks. I have also seen salesmen rip up the VMI mileage check certificates as they have come back showing mileage discrepancies and have told the customer that they have checked the mileage and that
everything is fine. It was so bad in the company that if one salesman felt that another had stolen his customer (and hence his commission) that just proir to the customer picking up their car, the spurned salesman would scratch the bonnet/side of the car so that it would reflect badly on the other. There were many occasions when
salesmen would come away from a deal laughing and talking about having "raped" the customer as they had basically conned someone without much finance knowledge into paying over the odds on finance (ok, so customer should know better, but 'conning' someone who thinks they are getting 13%APR into paying 13% flat rate is a bit off). On the up-side, Arnold can do some good deals on new/pre-reg stock - matching most of the large car supermarkets in England. Although I swore upon leaving the company that I would never again deal with them, I bought a pre-reg car in March 2002 as I needed a car in a hurry, and didn't have the time to go to the bigger English car supermarkets to do the deal - MISTAKE! Car arrived valet outside, but mud and dirt all over interior (and an empty Fanta can under the passenger seat!). No pre-delivery inspection done as sump half-empty, coolant half-empty, and PDI checklist and service book stamp not completed/stamped. At the time of writing this, now had the car 11 months, and had a trip to the garage 12 times to TRY to have problems sorted. 3 trips should have been sufficient, but due to staff incompetence and inability to do a proper job, 3 trips turned into 12. At one point they were putting more things wrong than they were fixing! I have worked in various garages during my time and while the dodgy reputation of the motor-trade applies to all of them in either a small or large way, Arnold's were by far the worse - not through any singular event, but through a combination of poor management in the dealers, lack of training for employees, incompetence, and poor quality staff. No longer work in the motor trade (got a respectable job these days), and don't usually bother to pass comment on companies I have a complaint against, as if I receive poor service I just don't go back, but I feel compelled to write this review as in my opinion, Arnold Clark is the worst company myself and friends have ever had to deal with. Best career decision I ever made was to get out quickly, and best decision I have ever made as a consumer is to avoid Arnold Clark's spivvy, incompetent, wide-boy, employees for evermore. Cheers! |

We bought a car from one of the arnold clark dealerships, had problem after problem with the car. service department was a waste of time, customer services were a waste of time. will make a point never to buy a car from this company ever again. overpriced poor quality junk, slow service never return your phone calls, have trouble fixing even the simplest of faults with my car. smarmy people at the reception and on the phone at head office. promises delivered ? no chance once they have the money you are just a waste of time to them. work they say has been done some times has not been done, car was never ready on agreed time, always had to come back later or even come back next day. not impressed with quality of work done to my car. |
