Hi, please post this story, we bought a nice one year old cavalier from a BRILLIANT garage called Caledonia, my brother was involved in a crash (taxi driver ran a red light while 20 over limit WOOPS!) the car was taken to an Arnold Clark body repair place, these guys are the business, the paintwork was PERFECT until the repairs just left the three year warranty, bad panel fitting which resulted in panel clashing when doors close and chips the paint and eventually caused rust, one whole side of the car was replaced, that new part of the car is the ONLY section of the car which now has bubbled paint, rust and chips, add that to a boot that rattles because of poor panel fitting then add a service at a later date which resulted in scratches and cracked lighting which was denied although they gave us a tiny tin of touch up paint as a goodwill gesture then add numerous incidents of false diagnosis to get cash in their pocket and you've got yourself a typical cause of "Arnold Clark Syndrome", do yourself a favour, just don't even go near them! It'll just cost you money, although if Caledonia are still around THEY ARE BRILLIANT!!! (local dealership has gone now though).24/01/2004 |

Thank god I'm not alone! Took the car in for a mot and service, which it failed. They then kept us hanging on for seven days to get the repairs done. I then find out it took so long because they ordered the wrong parts THREE times(hmmm? golf GTi how hard can it be??) Anyway they then pretended to be really nice and offer us a discount. Only to find out that they had upped our original bill by ninety quid! Unfortunately because we didn't hold them to an exact date , not much we can do. Also because the bill they have presented us with is still lower then the original don't have much of a case. Will not be using them again and urge all to register there complaint to Trading Standards as I did soon enough Trading Standards will have to take note!)24/01/2004 |

I purchased a car from this cowboy outfit about this time last year and like everyone else on this site I too had (still have) problems. The thing that pisses me off the most is that as it is MOT time again, they sent me a provisionally booked appointment as I did not call them to confirm they have now sent another letter. The people that have to send out these letter must be so embarrassed!!!.24/01/2004 |

Great site. Power to the consumer. I was going to buy a £6,000 motor from this "evil empire" But not now!!!! Is Arnold Clark on President Bush's "Axis of Evil" list. He probably should be. Keep up the good work.

I think I have stumbled across a company whose aim in life is not to sell. Asking for a test drive at 19:00 (Phoenix Branch at Paisley) I was informed that this was too late "Coz one of the guys wants to get to a football match". Fair enough, we all need some private time. I turned up at 18:30 as arranged and only one of the two test cars was available. No comparison, no sale. Salesmanship score zero. OK, not being one to give up and concluding that the Paisley salesmen are, incapable, don't care or are going for a negative sales record I approached the Bishopbriggs branch for a test drive. "We'll get back to you" Confidence renewed and 4 days later I am still waiting for them to get back to me. Salesmanship again zero. My advice is; AVOID ARNOLD CLARK AT ALL COSTS, THEY WANT YOUR MONEY BUT OFFER NO PRE-SALES SERVICE. Implication here is that if they cannot serve before a sale then you are on to plums after a sale,24/01/2004 |

I bought a Fiat Punto from Arnold in mount Vernon Glasgow And during the sales pitch I asked if it had the built in immobilizer, the answer came back an enthusiastic “oh yes” So signed up then was told by sales rep that he would hold on to the key so I he could cut me a spare seeing as it was a special key What an nice guy I thought! Well a week passed , I called ,”were just going to send it away no news yet” 2nd week , still waiting “ we’re waiting for Fiat in Italy to open up again, they’re of for a months holiday! After a bit of to and froing I got my key, bog standard key! What's this I asked where's the master? Turns out there was no immobilizer , just sales bullshit ! Then sales guy says that he never mentioned about immobilizer!! Right in front of me and the wife who were both present when I asked about immobilizer! End up after an argument getting a cheap immobilizer /Alarm fitted free. They’ll tell you anything to get a sale .24/01/2004 |

Another issue with my Fiat Punto was clutch slip so because it was still under the months warranty it was "replaced". Month later slipping again! Returned to Arnolds and told that it was an oil seal on the gearbox which had gone! but was not a result of the new clutch being fitted as the oil seal was internal on the gearbox side £200 quid Arnold charged for new seal and clutch! Anyone shed any light on this one??24/01/2004 |

I put my wife's fiesta into A C, Stirling for a routine service, and asked for a tyre to be changed as I thought it was illegal. When I picked the car up there was oily handprints all over it, I don't know what they had been playing at. I asked why it did not have a new tyre fitted, the guy at reception stated that the mechanic had just put the spare on as it was legal. I told him that I required a legal spare incase anything happened. He stated it was good enough for an emergency. That was a few years ago. Yesterday I enquired about a new V/H Omega. I was told I would be phoned back for a confirmed trade in figure. Stupidly, I have had to phone them back twice, still to no avail, as I am just getting the run around. After going in to see there website just now, I came across yours and after reading some of these e-mails I can tell you A C has just lost out on 20k. Thanks and keep up the good work. It's about time folk stood up to these people.24/01/2004 |
