Great site! i was a victim in the past [1994] and at that time i
couldn't believe how bad the sales/after sales service was back then. a colleague of mine has been the latest victim. when he told us all on duty that he was getting the runaround from AC,@6 of us all burst out laughing and said" join the club". now that I've seen your site i find it incredulous that 10yrs later this scheister is still getting away with it. where's the law?-or does some political party benefit from his generosity!!! friends in high places, I've got to wonder!!!!!!!! 26.5.2003 |

I bought a two year old Almera from Arnold Clark Mosspark. Found Rust on it, and I had to go to Royston to get it fixed. They proceeded to get blue paint on it, it's a red car), scratch it and refit a window badly. It went back a further three times, and they scratched it again, and damaged some fittings. Scott Willis, a director at AC said he would sort it out. He lied, said they had done a good job, and told me to leave there office. Any letters I sent to AC go to him or customer services, so they don't get read by AC himself. Do not trust Mr Willis, or the Royston branch, as they are useless at there jobs. 28.5.2003 |

A funny thing happened on the way to work one day . It was a nice rainy morning on the M8 with a section having no hard shoulder. A transport truck cab ahead on the road decides to lose those straps and large clips that were just sitting waiting to come off. As I was unable to avoid them one went up under the front of my engine and took out my oil filter. The red had come on but I had not note as I was be very vocal about the truck drive. On seeing the light I Slowed and when able excited the road to a side street and stopped. AA Arrived we changed the oil filter put in oil and started it up. The hydraulic lifters for the valves had run dry and the car would not drive rather than take a chance I was towed to my Arnold Clarke Dealer. once the insurance company was informed and a spot booked to look at the car I Drove it into there yard the hydraulics were still sticking and making nose. I was tolled that it would be expensive to check the car as it would have to be taken apart. A few days latter I called the Dealer and was tolled that the engine would have to be replaced and would cost 2,500 pounds. I tolled they would have to send the inspection report through to my insurance company. Being some what pissed off at this point I Called AA for an inspection to made on my behalf and was give the number . I first called my insurance company to find out if they would send someone to inspect the engine and was tolled they would on any work over 500 pounds. They said it would take 2 days after receiving the inspection report for someone to go out to the dealer. A number of days passed and no response I Called the dealer and was tolled they had just sent the report away and I should Get my insurance company to get a move on. I then asked for a report on the work carried out and how the inspection was done. The manager informed me the cost of doing any work on the car engine and replacing worn or broken parts would exceeded the cost of an engine replacement and there for I should replace the engine. The manager then asked the foreman to go over what had been done on the car. Foreman "the crankshaft ends have scoring and the age of the car I recommend changing the engine in the car" I Asked the fallowing: Is the timing out on the engine - no Is the over head cam or hydraulics damaged - no there is nothings wrong with the engine head What did you do to find the fault take off the oil pan - yes Is this all you did - yes So you say the ends are scored and the engine should be replaced.- yes. At this point I ended the conversation and hung up. There is no way any one can see scoring on ends un less you were to drop the crank shaft out of the engine or remove the end bolts and bearings around the crank shaft. Some one is looking to make money off of me. As far as I am concerned after talking with an engine specialist there is nothing wrong with the engine all it needs is to have an oil change and pan cleaned. The specialist wanted to go over to the dealer and have it out with them and get my car out. I am waiting for the insurance engineer to go over and see the car first which I have called and tolled him my concerns and what the engine specialist said after he has been and I have talked with him I will either take my car out or leave it in. 3.6.2003 |

nice site. keep up the good work.
I've never bought a car form Arnold Clark - the reason being i worked for the company for 5 years and i know all about their underhanded ways. i worked in the parts dept where they more times than not supply poor
quality parts. another thing about Arnold Clark is their extorniate labour price - it was £47.00 and hour when i was their (and thats going back @3 years nearly, they pay their normal mechanics @ £7.50 an hour then they have the cheek to charge you for
consumables like hose clips etc. ne loved the site keep it up 3.6.2003

We purchased a brand new Nissan Primera SVE from Arnold Clark in Liverpool in September 2000. What a joke, first they ordered the wrong car, so we had to wait another 10 days for the correct car, during this time we had to change the insurance back to the old car. Eventually they got the correct car but did not communicate with us about taxing the vehicle which delayed the collection again. Hooray we picked up our new car. We then realized that we did not have a copy of the finance agreement which took them ages to post to us. During all this time when we asked them to call us back we never once got a phone call back. When they realized that we had not signed a form to do with the finance, we got no end of calls from them asking when we could call in and sign the forms. A few months on after picking up the car we noticed water in the repeaters on the wing. Rang garage and granted they ordered in the parts and arranged to fit them. All was well until about a month ago when the cars electrics started acting up. Took car to the local garage and they told us the repeaters had not been earthed by the garage who had fitted them. We are now in June 2003 and the car is due for its first service which when we purchased the vehicle we were informed that we could have the first service free of charge. A note of this was made on the car order form, we thought this was adequate and to our stupidity thought that this information would be passed onto the service department. We booked our car in for the service and were told that we would have to prove that we were entitled to the free service. We informed them the the sales manager had made a note of it and that she would remember. Guess what! sales manager no longer works there and they cannot (surprisingly) find the information in the file about the free service. They will not honour the service and have basically said tough. In the last three years we have bought three brand new cars from that garage and have had all the servicing and repairs done there. Well guess what they have lost a good customer and a lot of money. They can go and whistle now.3.6.2003 |
