Re: Bare Faced Lies by salesmen. I was told by the salesman at the Allison St garage, that the vehicle I'd purchased was previously owned by an old woman, on the motability scheme. Funny when I turned the Radio on and the pre-sets were radio 1, Clyde 1 and Beat 106. Groovy Granny. This may not be a major issue for some people, but why lie unless you're covering something up. My car hasn't had too many problems, but generally doesn't perform the way it should. I guess it was hammered by the previous owner. 28.7.2003 |

Nearly signed for Volvo S80 in the Inverness garage. Their warranty promise seemed to be the best and the car had a check list 2 pages long to confirmed it had been checked (or so we're led to believe!!) It was pale blue and I've never liked the colour so reading your brill website I now know what a near miss I've just had!! Isn't the wed a great tool ;-) 28.7.2003 |

Just to let you know that I was going to take my Peugeot 306 into Arnold Sharks at Tollcross in Edinburgh and went in yesterday after work to find that when I went to look at some cars I was getting funny looks from a couple of the salesmen and none of them would even come and ask me if I needed any help. After walking around I went inside to see about servicing and this man was trying to tell the man behind the desk about his car but the guy was just trying to get him out of there, needless to say I left and after finding this site I won’t be going there ever again. 29.7.2003 |

Well hello there I am now an official sucker. Yep I fell for the Arnold Clark I will sell you a Daewoo with full three year warranty and free servicing (You won't find out this isn't true until it's too late and I will deny ever having said such a thing!) The car was pre registered and guess what I am not the original owner so I suppose that makes me a bit of a sap for booking my free service, delivering my car to the official Daewoo dealership, taking possesion of the courtesy car and then returning home only to receive my official "you are a sap you went to Arnold Clark didn't you" phone call no you are not entitled to free service. Well done Arnold I was completely duped by your disguise as a Daewoo dealer/reputable company/someone who cares etc. Yes it worked I assumed I would receive full benefits as a new Daewoo owner and further assumed that my local friendly looking after his own commission salesman would make sure that I did not do away with this incorrect assumption ! without fully informing me that I had been shafted. Do I get a badge???? 30.7.2003 |

We bought a Renault Laguna (2000) from AC Kingsway Dundee 8 moths ago. After 8 weeks it needed an ignition coil replaced costing about £150, which Renualt were to pay 80% and us 20%. I don't think so, we've only had it 8 weeks - we didn't pay. Now the central locking is not working and was reported when the car was still in manufacturers warranty. AC 'fixed' the central locking by resetting it and told us even if the warranty was up, Renault would still pay a percentage - this is lies. On the day of the warranty expiring the central locking was again not working. Surprise Surprise Renault aren't to pay anything towards fixing this and we've been charged £171 to get this fixed. AC's after sales customer relations are absolutely shocking. They kept blaming Renualt and wouldn't take any responsibility. They should not get away with this, I will never deal with this company again and will make sure I tell as many people that I can how terrible they are. 30.7.2003 |

1) One of the taxi drivers I work with bought an ex-demo MG ZR turbo diesel 6 months ago from an Arnold Clark branch in Ayrshire. about 6 weeks ago it dies on the road, and he has to get the RAC out - diesel pump wasn't bolted in properly. Returned to Arnold Clark who replace the diesel injection pump. It still has a bolt missing however. 2 weeks ago, the car starts to get really sluggish and noisy again. Injection pump is loose again. Arnold Clark are blaming it on a missing 'engine back plate@ whatever that is - and claim they can't get one from Rover till OCTOBER! Car is currently still with them, and my poor workmate is running about to and from the office on a Moped. 2) Another friend bought an R reg Renault Clio 1.4 RT Sport from another branch of Arnold Clark in Ayrshire 6 months ago. Her timing belt snapped outside Prestwick Airport yesterday. Still awaiting their response on this one. 1.8.2003 |
