I was buying a new Seat Ibiza from Arnold Clark and my husband was looking to trade in his 1994 fiesta for a better car. Because I was buying new we thought we would be getting a good deal on his. No chance, they promised us a car was coming in on the Monday which sounded very good so I signed for the new Ibiza. Lo and behold a phone call on Monday saying the other car hadn't arrived but was offered an older car at the same price. Cancelled both cars, went elsewhere and got a great deal, my husbands car was also supplied with a years MOT and Years free warranty which AC wanted £395.00 for. Have been buying from AC for 10 years but never again. 1.10.2003 |

I too have had a problem with Arnold Clark at phoenix Citreon Linwood. I had a problem with my rear brakes .The car was returned after a service and when I asked about the brakes the service manager asked in surprise WHAT ABOUT THE BRAKES????..when i told him the fault he said his technician had found no fault. needless to say the brakes failed 3 days later. when I called Citreon Linwood I was told there was a weeks waiting list ....I went elsewhere. 2.10.2003 |

all i would say is do not buy from Arnold as i have seen some off their salesmen at the motor auctions bidding for vehicles which they will put on there forecourt and add a cool £1000 to £2000 pounds or even more, also they will not do anything to them this is why the general public should be aware they are being conned. let me give you an example a person i work beside bought a Peugeot 206 v reg.she did not know much about cars and if i had known she was going to Arnies i would have advised her against it, anyway she got the car a nice red one. looked all right from a distance i looked along the side of the car n/side and it was sort of pushed in she did not notice it also there was numerous dents along the sides .i did not have the heart to tell her as she loves the car but if this is the sort of cars that Arnold's are turning out then we must be on our guard as once we have viewed the car and missed anything and handed the cash over its too late to complain. wherever you buy a car check the bodywork over with a fine tooth comb. if Arnold is only giving you 30 days warranty on a £5000 pounds car he can't have much faith in his cars i would say.ive been a victim and since my dealings with a/c i have bought two cars privately and neither have given me a problem well i hope that has been of some help. ps also if you take a car on the h/p Arnold gets a cheque from the finance company for getting the business for them so he rips you off again thats all folks by by 2.10.2003 |

ARNOLD CLARK COWBOYS 3 YEARS AGO PUT MY PEUGEOT 405TD IN FOR STARTING PROBLEMS THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A LEAKING FUEL PRIMER PUMP COST £160.00 OK I TOLD THEM TO FIT IT .NEXT DAY I TELEPHONED THEM TO SEE IF THE CAR WAS READY, REPLY NO SEEMS TO BE ANOTHER PROBLEM I CALLED BACK THE NEXT DAY AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND THE FAULT. I TOLD THEM I WOULD COME AND COLLECT THE CAR AND THEY PRESENTED ME WITH A BILL FOR £345.00 I TOLD THEM TO GET STUFFED. I HAD TO PAY THE BILL TO GET THE CAR BACK WHICH WAS EVEN WORSE THAN WHEN IT FIRST WENT IN FOR REPAIR I THEN WENT TO THE TRADING STANDARDS WHO AFTER TWO WEEKS GOT ME £198.00 BACK. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO A SMALL BACK STREET GARAGE WHO FOUND THE PROBLEM WITHIN 1 HOUR A LEAKING FUEL PUMP SEAL. THE COST WAS PARTS AND FITTING £55.00 YES THATS RIGHT £55.00 LET IT BE A WARNING TO ANY BODY READING THIS BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER GIVE YOUR SMALL GARAGE A CALLOW I NEARLY FORGOT THIS IS FOR YOU ARNOLD FU*K YOU.2.10.2003 |

Is it worth making it clear that Macharg, Rennie & Lindsay are actually 'Arnold Clark' trading as someone else!!! In 1996 I bought a pre-reg'd Fiat Punto Diesel. Sad, I know but I've learned my lesson! Within 12 hours it rejected the coded-key and was back in their hands where it stayed for a week. 1 month later - the oil-dipstick had fallen off the side of the engine.....leaving a hole for the oil to escape from during the 1500miles since it was last checked...the garage response "Don't be stupid - it can't have damaged the engine!" 3 months old the locks broke! This was apparently my own fault....being too forceful with the key?? Balls it was me! Other hassle that was my fault included.... Paint, seals, bushes... blah blah blah. 3.10.2003 |

Went into the internet under Arnold Clarke to find there phone number to complain Yet Again to there head office with regards to the Newcastle Under Lyne Brochure. May I say bravo.....I brought a Vtr Saxo from them October Last Year and Since Jan this year I have complaint after complaint, it has now been back 11 times, with the same fault that over the last 10 months has got worse and worse. I have tried talking to them customer service is a Joke, they advise me to take it to the main dealers, they are finding fault after fault. I have gone back to Arnold Clarke again, where they tell me not there problem cause i have taken it to a main dealers it is now theirs. Takes a month to get a courtsey car from the main dealers so its dragging on and on. The complete incompetent idiot who dare call himself a manager Jaime in Newcastle would not know what a car was if it ran him over. I am know seeking legal advise and suing them. 4.10.2003 |
